6月30日、アメリカ・アイダホ州クートニー郡で発生した山林火災への対応中、消防士が銃撃されるという痛ましい事件が発生し、2名が殉職、1名が負傷するという極めて深刻な事態となりました。 事件後、警察による大規模な捜索活動が行われ、容疑者とみられる男性は山中で遺体で発見されました。 この地域の消防活動を指揮しているのは、NAEMT（全米救急隊員協会）の会長であり、私たち日本救急救命士会にとって大切な友人であるChristopher Way氏です。彼をはじめとする関係者の皆様が、非常に困難な状況の中で職務を遂行されていることに、深い敬意を表します。 また、火災現場では現在も、急峻な地形の中で多数の消防隊員と航空支援部隊が懸命な消火活動が続けられています。 日本救急救命士会は、殉職された消防官の方々に心より哀悼の意を表するとともに、ご遺族および関係者の皆様に深くお悔やみ申し上げます。そして、今なお過酷な状況の中で任務にあたられているすべての消防・救急関係者の皆様の安全を、心よりお祈り申し上げます。

We express our condolences for the firefighters who lost their lives in a shooting incident in Idaho, USA.

On June 30, a tragic incident occurred in Kootenai County, Idaho, where two firefighters were lost their lives and another was injured while responding to a wildfire. Following the attack, a large-scale search was conducted, and the suspected perpetrator was later found deceased in the mountains. The fire response in this region is being led by Mr. Christopher Way, Fire Chief of the area and President of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). Mr. Way is also a valued friend of the Japan Emergency Life-Saving Technician Association, and we hold him and all those involved in the response in the highest regard as they continue their duties under such extremely difficult circumstances. Despite the tragedy, firefighting efforts continue with the deployment of ground crews and aerial units working relentlessly tirelessly in steep and hazardous terrain. The Japan Emergency Life-Saving Technician Association expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen firefighters. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected by this incident and sincerely praypray for the safety of all fire and emergency personnel still working on the scene.
